Being a mom of one who has HLHS has had some scary moments but more precious ones as well. RJ came into this world on October 29, 2019, at Sacred heart children's hospital. He had his first open-heart surgery on October 31, 2019, a cath lab procedure on January 29, 2020, and his second open heart surgery on March 1, 2020. His recovery for both surgeries were successful. He had a love/hate relationship with the ng tube for about 6.5 months but when it was discussed that we should consider a g tube for feeding, his dad worked with him to take his formula in a bottle instead (which worked). Around 7 months old, RJ was introduced to baby food and that opened his love for food. He enjoyed many of the mixed packages and that started him being a foodie. He is slowly expanding his vocabulary. He is now two years old and enjoys times with his tablet (which he discovered Blippi, Cocomelon, Dr. Panda), his dog Cooper and both his dad and I.
